About the Film

The book is a complete work of art. In addition to the content, what is fascinating is the form, the color, the illustration, the typography, the pictures, the paper – it is the design of books, the loving details that make the passion great and the book a sensual experience. The film is about the different aspects of book design. Well-known bookmakers talk about their work and show the central role that design details play in our love of books. The Dutch book designer Irma Boom, the German publisher and printer Gerhard Steidl, the British cover artist Jon Gray, the Parisien publisher Gerard Berreby, the Hamburg book and media designer Dr. Rainer Groothuis and the French illustrator and author Bernard Granger, alias Blexbolex, have their say.
