Nach dem Krieg

Documentary ,’43, ZDF Dokukanal/HRT, 2009

About the Film

This film is about children who live in the Ex-War region of Croatia at the border to Bosnia. They live in the cities of Okucani, Nova Gradiska and Slavonski Brod and they have a very rare kind of bone cancer. Some scientists and doctors presume it´s because of Depleted Uranium Munition which was used during the Yugoslav war and is still contaminating the ground. But the dose is too small to be really alarming, nonetheless it can affect childrens bones while they are growing. A taboo that no one wants to look at and that is causing a lot of suffering in the region. In the film we meet some of the affected children and their families and talk to doctors and scientists about the presumption that the munition can be the cause of the rising  cancer cases
