Vincent Peirani – Der Neue Atem des Jazz
Documentary, 52´, SWR/arte, 2018
About the Film
French accordionist Vincent Peirani is a talent of the century. Just as Emile Parisien leads the soprano saxophone to new shores, Vincent Peirani is another one of European musicians who are exploring jazz in fresh new ways. In the film, we accompany Vincent Peirani on a tour in France and Germany in 2017, during which he plays with very different groups: in a duo with Michel Portal, with his friend Emile Parisien, the classical cellist Francois Salque or the pianist Michael Wollny and we see him on stage with the jazz-rock fusion band “File under Zawinul”. There are no limits to Vincent Peirani’s musical range. We also learn a lot about his career, meet his family and find out something about what defines and moves him.
